Berries are Bountiful at Washington’s Restaurants

This summer, delectable dessert abound featuring seasonal berries at one of Washington’s leading restaurants.  First up, at 1789 Restaurant, located at 1226 36th Street, NW, 20007, newly appointed pastry chef Ryan Westover has created Blueberry Hand Pies with marshmallow glaze and Marcona almond ice cream.

Next, located at 1100 New York Avenue, on the corner of 12th and H Streets, NW, 20001, Bibiana Osteria Enoteca is serving up Semifreddo made with sheeps milk ricotta, compressed blackberry, basil, fried cannoli tuile, and raspberry sorbet, as well as Chamomile Panna Cotta with peach compote and bellini spuma

At The Bombay Club, located at 815 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 20006, guests can finish the evening with two Indian specialties featuring seasonal berries.  The Rabri is a traditional sweet dish made with milk served with fresh blueberries.  The Carrot Halwa is another traditional Indian dish made with carrots that are cooked in milk with almonds and raisins and served with blackberries.

Dolcezza, Washington’s premier artisan gelato shop with four locations in the DC metropolitan area, is currently offering Blackberries & Cream Gelato made with Westmoreland Berry Farm blackberries and Perrydell milk and cream. Dolcezza’s upcoming factory will be located at 550 Penn Street, NE, Washington, DC, 20002.

nopa Kitchen + Bar, located at 800 F Street, NW, 20004, offers two seasonal desserts highlighting fresh berries: the Fried Peach Pies, petit peach pies fried until golden served with fresh raspberries and Peach Melba frozen yogurt; Polenta Almond Crumble with roasted blackberries and sweet corn ice cream, and the Black Currant Frappe, Malted Milk gelato, black currant “slush” served with lavender lemon poppy seed madeleine.  Seasonal sorbets are also available, and include flavors such as Raspberry Lime, Blackberry Cassis, and Strawberry.

The Oval Room, located at 800 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 20006, has a Lemon White Chocolate Mousse made with strawberry sorbet, fresh strawberries, and lemon balm. 

Blue Duck Tavern, located on 24th and M Streets, NW, 20037, offers a Chocolate Raspberry Cake with pistachios, a Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble, and Seasonal Fruit Tarts.

The Hamilton, located at 600 14th Street, NW, 20005, offers two seasonal desserts featuring berries at their peak.  Using local blueberries, guests can enjoy the Blueberry Buckle made with local blueberries, corn cobbles, vanilla ice cream, and caramel popcorn.  Guests may also try the classic Strawberry Shortcake made with a sugared buttermilk biscuit topped with fresh strawberries and sweetened whipped cream.
