Barracuda Taproom, Hickory’s first and only self-pour taproom, has announced a new nightly entertainment line-up of fun events including music bingo, stand-up comedy, and live music performances.
The 46-tap self-serve beer and wine taproom is now open Tuesday through Saturday, offering different entertainment options each night. Special events like music bingo, comedy night, and murder mystery games will take place on Tuesdays, drink specials are offered Wednesdays, and live music performances will be hosted on the remaining days.
Musical guests include local favorites like Brian Johnson from The Screaming Arrows, Rob Simmons, Bethany Gabriel, Donner Deads, and more. Performances run from 8-11 pm.
Barracuda is the only pour-your-own establishment in Catawba County and features a new GEN 4 self-serve tap wall powered by iPourIt technology. The RFID-enabled self-pour system allows guests to serve themselves craft beer and wine using a wristband to control beverage taps and track pours.
Owner Scott Beatty discovered the self-pour concept in Charlotte, NC, and was inspired to bring something completely new back home to Hickory. With a background in design and construction, he set out to renovate a vacant space, turning a Jersey Mike’s Subs location into a modern high-end taproom.
“Our customers have been excited about the opportunity to sample on their own, choosing to grab just a sip or a full glass,” shares Beatty. “We’ve also been able to easily adapt our selection based on feedback. We started with just three ciders and the demand was so high that we now have eight ciders on tap.”
The tap wall offers a rotating selection of four wines and 42 local and craft beers from a variety of styles. A full liquor bar and domestic bottled beers are also available, as well as a menu of bar-style appetizers. Guests are welcome to bring their own food or order delivery.
Guests can expect an elevated neighborhood pub atmosphere with communal-style tables made from beautiful Costa Rican Guanacaste wood. Dogs are welcome in the taproom.
