Arooga’s New Menu Boasts Largest Ingredient Changes Since Inception

Arooga’s is charging into 2016 with a new menu focused on transitioning to clean ingredients, providing healthy meal alternatives, and improving some old favorites, and Arooga's is celebrating with a launch event that will allow guests to sample the entire menu at 50 percent off at all of its Central Pennsylvania locations.

On January 18, Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar is taking the next step in its quest for quality by using ingredients free of additives and preservatives to create items with better nutrition and flavor. The new menu, which features organic produce and no antibiotic ever proteins (NABE), as well as new vegetarian options, will be offered half-off from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for patrons who dine in (excluding alcohol and beverage purchases, cannot be used in conjunction with other offers or discounts).

“With this new menu, we're providing cleaner ingredients and organic produce where it makes sense, because we wanted to make sure we were able to continue to offer our customers value, while offering higher quality ingredients,” says Arooga’s co-founder and president Gary Huether, Jr. “We are launching new items containing ingredients such as no antibiotic ever chicken, organic quinoa and brown rice, and NABE Dogfish Head beer infused brats; plus we’re showcasing old favorites such as our free range Imperial Wagyu Kobe burgers that are served thirteen different ways.”

Arooga's continues to break the mold of the traditional sports bar with its dedication to providing fresh, nutritious options. Arooga's locations have long been certified by The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness for gluten-free dining, and is committed to sourcing better ingredients for its menu, such as by using cage-free eggs.

Arooga’s has also joined Healthy Dining Finder and Kids Live Well, whose board of nutritionists and dietitians have analyzed and qualified several new menu items as part of their program, such as the new USDA organic Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken & Shrimp Kale Pesto Pasta, and the Asian Quinoa and Rice Bowl, along with several low-calorie kids menu choices.

“We said from day one, we would not be a typical sports bar and restaurant. We are still the best place on earth to watch sports, drink beer and eat wings, but that doesn’t mean that we have to serve food that contains antibiotics, additives and preservatives,” Huether, Jr. says. “We are truly committed to this transition, and will continue to analyze our ingredients, and source better alternatives where it makes sense. We recognize the benefits of clean eating, not only from a health standpoint, but also from a consumer’s perspective, in that clean ingredients create better tasting items. We believe that this is the future of food."

Arooga's, the Central Pennsylvania-born and based award-winning full-service casual dining restaurant and bar, has 10 corporate locations in Central Pennsylvania and nearly 100 franchise locations either open, in development, or under contract. Arooga’s was recently named Business of the Year by the Central Penn Business Journal among those businesses with more than 100 employees. The selection was made by an independent panel of judges unaffiliated with the CPBJ.
