Alexandria Brashears is the beverage director and sommelier at Andros Taverna. Brashears is an Atlanta-born sommelier and brings more than a decade of experience in the hospitality industry to the Logan Square restaurant. She is a veteran of Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park in New York City and works with Chef Doug Psaltis at Andros Taverna to marry excellent beverage pairings with approachable and delicious Greek cuisine.

The beverage program she curated at Lyla Lila was nominated as a semifinalist for a James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine Program in 2022. Brashears is also a recipient of the Sonoma-Cutrer Advanced Course Scholarship in 2019, and was runner up in the Chaine des Rotisseurs Young Sommelier Competition of the same year.

Her role includes being on-hand to interact with guests as they discuss wine pairings for their meals and providing recommendations with tasting notes. Her goal is to bring guests back to explore one of the most extensive Grecian wine lists available in Chicago time and time again.

With an already strong knowledge of Domestic, French, Spanish and Italian winemaking regions, Andros Taverna provides Brashears the opportunity to deepen her knowledge into the emerging Greek viticulture scene. Her favorite wines are those that are delicious, made with intention and speak to a sense of place and time. This summer Brachears takes the guests at Andros Taverna on a journey to the Greek Islands with her selections of wine from the various regions

She thrives working in team environments striving towards a common goal, which makes her a perfect fit to the spirit of philotimo at Andros Taverna — a Greek word without definition that embodies goodness and generosity for family, social living and community. Brashears is thrilled to collaborate alongside Chef Doug to synergize her selections with the Greek food cooked from the soul at Andros Taverna.
