American Roadside’s first new freestanding store will open in Greenville, South Carolina, at the end of 2012. The design review board approved the request at a meeting held last night.
American Roadside will demolish an existing service station on the corner of E. McBee Avenue and S. Irvine Street in downtown Greenville and will build its fifth store to continue expansion in the Southeast.
“We loved this location in Greenville and we think a freestanding American Roadside will be a great addition to the Company’s portfolio,” says Rich LaVecchia, chairman and CEO of American Roadside Burgers, Inc.
Des Roberts of Collett & Associates in Charlotte represented American Roadside in the transaction and worked with Bill Diehl, III of Diehl Properties LLC to bring the property to the expanding burger chain.
“Des has an eye for what American Roadside is looking for,” Diehl says. “This property combines convenience, appeal, and a quick-turnaround for our opening.”
301 East McBee LLC was represented by Pete Brett, CCIM, of Coldwell Banker Commercial Caine to redevelop the corner, the former Esso and most recently Jim Beam’s service station, into a new American Roadside.
“We are very excited about the plans American Roadside Burgers’ team has designed to serve downtown Greenville and the surrounding neighborhoods,” Brett says. “The close proximity to our bustling Main Street corridor along with parking on McBee Avenue will provide convenience for everyone.”
American Roadside and the developer plan a late 2012 opening.
