The second American Roadside in Charlotte, North Carolina, will open June 9, 2012, in the SouthPark area of the city. American Roadside opened its first Charlotte store in October of 2011, and this new store in SouthPark will be the flagship of the brand and will also include corporate offices.

“Our corporate headquarters relocated to Charlotte in 2011, and we are pleased that our new offices will be next door to our flagship SouthPark store,” says Rich LaVecchia, chairman and CEO.  

In addition to the 3,500 square foot restaurant, American Roadside Burgers, Inc. will occupy 1,500 square feet of office space at 5821 Fairview Road.

Christopher J. Nelson, who managed such iconic Charlotte restaurants as Upstream and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, has come on board to help open American Roadside’s flagship store. 

“Chris’ extensive industry knowledge, as well as his great Charlotte connections, will serve our store and our brand well,” LaVecchia says. 

Nelson will be the managing partner of the SouthPark American Roadside.

A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday, June 9, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. outside at American Roadside SouthPark. Classic cars and motorcycles will be on display and live music will occur throughout the day, including a special afternoon performance by the Carolinas’ favorite The Blue Dogs.

In addition, American Roadside will present donation checks to two local Charlotte charities, the Autism Foundation of the Carolinas and Classroom Central, as a part of its National Hamburger Day Giveaway. The company donates a portion of each Signature Burger sold to American Roadside charities, supporting children and families in need.

American Roadside Burgers has one restaurant in Smithtown, New York, and two Charlotte locations. American Roadside’s fourth restaurant is scheduled to open in Columbia, South Carolina, this fall and the fifth in Greenville, South Carolina, by the end of 2012.

All restaurants are corporate-owned and operated.

American Roadside’s SouthPark location will open for lunch and dinner business on Monday, June 11.
