Alto-Shaam, an innovator in the global foodservice equipment industry, experienced record-breaking growth in 2018 and gives back to global employees.

From 2010 to 2018, Alto-Shaam grew at three times the rate of the foodservice industry, affirming its position as a worldwide leader in foodservice equipment manufacturing.
Alto-Shaam offers a breadth of solution-based products that offer unique technology, including original Cook & Hold Ovens, exclusive Vector Multi-Cook Ovens, Combitherm Combi Ovens, and more.

“Living our vision, mission and values has helped us achieve continued success when the foodservice industry as a whole is experiencing slow to no growth,” Alto-Shaam president and chief operating officer Steve Maahs says. “We broke a number of Alto-Shaam records in 2018, beginning the year with a record first quarter that paved the way for an exceptional year.”

Alto-Shaam employee base soars

Additionally, Alto-Shaam’s employee base significantly increased by 73.5 percent from 2010 to 2018—employing 291 people in 2010 and 505 in 2018.

As a privately held company, Alto-Shaam employees, like shareholders, participate in the success of the business and receive an annual gain-sharing bonus. This year, employees will receive a record $4 million payout.

“As a family company, we believe in investing in our worldwide team,” Maahs said. “Our people are the key to our success. I am proud of our employees for working together to provide our customers with the highest quality products and services.”

Alto-Shaam adopted the gain-sharing program 11 years ago to reward employees for their collective success and hard work.

Facility expansion slated for spring 2019

Due to this growth, Alto-Shaam will expand its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, beginning in spring 2019.

The first phase of the project includes a south expansion of its facility that will house finished goods, warehouse and engineering. The expansion will free up space for new, state-of-the-art technology on the existing manufacturing floor.

The second phase of the project will include the construction of an inviting new central lobby, all employee gathering space and renovated office buildings.

Alto-Shaam’s corporate headquarters, worldwide manufacturing facility, Culinary Institute and Technical Institute are based in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
