Tuesday, on World Water Day, Tao Group announced its plans to partner with WHOLE WORLD Water to install a state-of-the-art Pure Ionic water fountain within a local Flint elementary school this spring.

Since April 2014, citizens of Flint, Michigan, have suffered the effects of a drinking water contamination crisis caused by changing its water sourcing from treated Detroit Water and Sewerage Department to the Flint River. Between 6,000 and 12,000 children have been exposed to drinking water with high levels of lead that could potentially cause a range of serious health complications. After a news conference held by Mayor Karen Weaver in February 2016, the city announced its plans to remove and replace all of the corrosive water service lines—a project estimated to cost $55 million and take up to one year. In the interim, Flint is seeking assistance to bring clean drinking water to its children.

The Pure Ionic system Tao Group will sponsor will not only use its patented technology to clean out the lead, but will also remove all of the pharmaceuticals and estrogens complicit with most municipal water supplies. Beyond cleaning the water, this system mineralizes the water restoring critical elements that are required for a healthy life. In this effort, Tao Group and WHOLE WORLD Water hope to create a scalable model that offers long-term solutions.

In March 2013, Tao Group venues in New York City and Las Vegas pledged to filter, bottle, and sell their own water in reusable glass bottles, contributing 10 percent of the proceeds to the WHOLE WORLD Water Fund. All of the money raised is used to fund clean and safe drinking water initiatives around the world, and will help fund this initiative in Flint, Michigan. To date, Tao Group has contributed over $250,000 to the organization.
