Dawn Sweeney, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association, was elected to Save the Children’s Board of Trustees.
The Board is comprised of 34 individuals who are dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach his or her potential.
“Under Dawn’s leadership, the National Restaurant Association has achieved important legislative victories to improve the nutrition and health of children,” says Carolyn Miles, president and CEO of Save the Children. “She understands that policy change is essential to making a lasting difference for our children’s future. As a Trustee, Dawn will be able to further develop the public and private partnerships we need to move our mission forward.”
Sweeney has led the National Restaurant Association since 2007, helping to focus its mission on protecting and advancing the restaurant industry, which employs 14 million individuals across one million restaurant and foodservice outlets.
“I have witnessed firsthand some of the incredible work Save the Children is doing to tangibly change young lives in some of the most remote and rural communities in the world, and I look forward to helping the organization continue its critical work in my role as Trustee,” Sweeney says.
Sweeney is a graduate of Colby College and earned her MBA at George Washington University.
