MRA To Host Event With Harpoon Brewery

The Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) announced a new industry event, the Holiday Hangover to End Childhood Hunger.

Hosted in partnership with the Harpoon Brewery, the event will take place on Jan. 26 from 7-10 p.m. at Harpoon Brewery on the Boston waterfront.

This new initiative, led by the organization’s recently appointed member services manager for Boston Diana Locke, is part of an effort to connect the state’s next generation of chefs, restaurateurs, and hospitality professionals with the MRA’s network of established, experienced industry leaders.

The Holiday Hangover to End Childhood Hunger is an opportunity for up-and-coming members of Boston’s restaurant industry to gather over beers and celebrate the end of the busy holiday season. Net proceeds will benefit No Kid Hungry, which is working to end childhood hunger in America by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget.

During the event, ten of Boston’s best chefs will serve tastings of original dishes paired or prepared with one of the Harpoon Brewery’s craft brews. Tastings of each beer will be served alongside each dish.

“The MRA is an incredible resource for our state’s restaurants and restaurateurs at every stage, from pre-opening to expansion. The restaurant scene in the Boston area is thriving and growing, and it is important to the MRA that the younger generation of hospitality industry leaders understands the myriad benefits of joining our organization,” Locke says.

Tickets for the event will be available for purchase later this month. The $40 ticket price ($30 for those in the restaurant industry) includes admission, two beers as well as tastings of the chefs’ dishes and the beers they are paired with.
