The foodservice industry is known for its philanthropic commitments, from restaurants feeding neighbors to national campaigns that raise funds to feed needy school-age children.  That spirit of giving extended to trade shows recently, when visitors who scanned their badge while visiting the Escalon booth at the International Pizza Expo became part of an effort to provide hunger relief to the world.

As part of its “One Can. Make a Difference.” campaign, Escalon promised to donate one can of product per scan. Thanks to all of the participants, Escalon is donating over 1,000 cans of 6 in 1 All Purpose Ground Tomatoes to the relief organization Stop Hunger Now—a nonprofit that delivers food, essentials, and disaster relief to millions of hungry, vulnerable victims in 65 countries around the world. This shipment will be sent to aid their partners in Cambodia, where one out of three citizens live below the poverty line and 40 percent of children are malnourished.

Stop Hunger Now is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Their mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.
