Alan Springate, co-founder of The Cowfish in Raleigh, North Carolina, recently presented $5,000 to A Child’s Place, which works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.

The donation was a portion of the proceeds from sales of the MKG Burger, a menu item named in NBA player Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s honor and developed specifically to benefit one of his favorite charities.

Kidd-Gilchrist worked with The Cowfish Executive Chef David Lucarelli and Master Sushi Chef Rifali Almunir to develop the MKG, which reflects his healthy eating habits.

“All of us at The Cowfish thank MKG for introducing us to the important work of A Child’s Place and for partnering with us on this fun, philanthropic project,” Springate says. "Teaming up with him to raise money made it a win-win for everyone.”
