On the Atlantic City boardwalk on Saturday, Aug. 23, 1,100 enthusiastic runners turned out to participate in the first annual Boardwalk Run 5K hosted by Chickie's and Pete's, the Philadelphia-area sports bar and restaurant chain.

The race started and ended at the Chickie's and Pete's restaurant located at the Tropicana Casino & Resort.

Runners and walkers of all levels participated in the race, with the top three overall males and females as well as the top three male and female group winners receiving recognition plaques and other prizes.

Every participant received a free order of world-famous Chickie's and Pete's Crabfries, an official Chickie's and Pete's Boardwalk Run race shirt, and souvenir mug. After the race, of-age participants enjoyed beach games and complimentary refreshments in the beach beer garden.

The charity race raised more than $3,500 to benefit Autism New Jersey, a non-profit agency that is committed to ensuring safe and fulfilling lives for individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who support them.

"I want to personally thank and congratulate every person who participated in the Boardwalk Run," says Pete Ciarrocchi, president and CEO of Chickie's and Pete's. "The selfless acts of these 1,100 individuals will provide much needed funding to Autism New Jersey, a worthy charity that is very close to my heart."
