Wild Wing Cafe today announced the launch of its annual Battle of the Bones competition. The wildly popular bracket-style cook-off invites fans in all corners of the country to submit their wing recipes for a chance to win an extraordinary collection of prizes including:

  • An exclusive private party at Wild Wing Cafe with chef Rusty Hamlin, the executive chef of Southern Ground and Zac Brown Band
  • A permanent spot on the Wild Wing Cafe menu
  • A $5000 grand prize

“The time has come for our loyal fans to show us what they’re made of,” says Debra Stokes, chief marketing officer for Wild Wing Cafe. “We’re on a mission to find the best wing recipe in America, which is why we reached out to our incredible fan base for submissions. Nobody understands wings like our fans. We are eager and excited to see what they come up with for the contest.”

Chef Rusty Hamlin the executive chef of Southern Ground, will play an important role in guiding the recipe contest. The Louisiana born culinary artist is passionate about fresh, local ingredients and gourmet Southern cooking. He is known for the famed Zac Brown Band Eat & Greet events, which are held before each concert. During the events, fans gather outside the concert venue to be served a top notch southern menu from “Cookie,” the band’s 53’ commercial kitchen.

During the competition, diners at all participating locations will have the opportunity to taste Hamlin’s signature wing recipe along with two competing wing recipe entrants. Upon completion of their meal, guests will submit a ballot to vote for their favorite wings. The grand prize winner will be announced just prior to the start of the big game on Super Bowl Sunday.

For each plate of wings sold during the recipe contest, $1 will be donated to Camp Southern Ground, the passion project of Grammy-Award-winning artist Zac Brown. Nestled on nearly 500 acres of Georgia farmlands, Camp Southern Ground will be a state-of-the-art summer camp program that will serve children between the ages of 7-17 with both typical and special needs.

The neighborhood eatery will begin accepting entries for the Battle of the Bones contest via its website on Monday, November 11 through Sunday, December 8. The bracket-style competition will launch on December 16 with the winning wing recipe to be announced on Super Bowl Sunday.

Fresh, made-from-scratch wings and homemade sauces are at the heart of Wild Wing Cafe’s menu. However, it’s the menu’s variety, which includes specialties such as half-pound Angus Steakhouse Burgers, salads and Wild Wraps that keeps customers coming back. And, the Wild Wing Cafe music scene bolsters the brand’s connection to the communities it serves with events such as “Last Band Standing,” “WingStock” and “The Wild Wing Voice Off,” among others.
