Brunswick’s Buffalo Grove Opens


Two strikes started off the night to formally open Brunswick’s Buffalo Grove on October 14, benefiting non-profit organizations Clearbrook and Special Olympics of Illinois. With a crowd of nearly 300 local business leaders, civic officials, and community members, Brunswick’s matched every strike for the evening with $10, raising $2,000 combined for the two causes.

“The Brunswick’s concept is designed to naturally connect with the community and we couldn’t find a better way to open our doors than by donating to two valuable charities that bring so much support to the area,” says Jim Fox, president of Brunswick Bowling Retail. Funds raised during the event will support Clearbrook’s services and programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, as well as Special Olympics of Illinois’s programs that help people with intellectual disabilities to realize their full potential in sports and in life.  

Catering to an adult audience, Brunswick’s offers bowling on 32 lanes; distinctive American pub fare and local craft beer at its full service Tavern ’45 restaurant; “Urban Mission,” a state-of-the-art, Chicago-themed laser tag arena; and a 10,000 square-foot arcade featuring competitive multi-player games.  With a focus on guest experience, the center features a highly trained staff and amenities like laneside service. Des Plaines-based Chipman Design Architecture was commissioned by Brunswick’s to realize its vision for the next evolution in bowling, including plush furnishings and mood lighting to create an enhanced ambiance.  

“We wanted to create a new concept that would bring an elevated bowling, entertainment, and dining experience to our guests,” Fox says. “This is our third Brunswick’s center to open in the United States and the first one in the Chicago area. It’s ideal as a destination for friends, families and company parties to enjoy good food, entertainment, and friendly competition on the lanes.”
