Denny's

According to Denny’s, Christmas Day has been its busiest day for seven consecutive years. Last year, the chain served nearly 1.5 million guests. Naturally, Denny’s is open again this year, 24/7, and offering its full platform of options to diners. That means you can order on Christmas through Denny’s online and mobile ordering platform and even have it delivered where available. There are also new festive flavors to pick from, including Pumpkin Cream Pancakes, White Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes, and Cranberry Orange Pancakes.

“Denny’s has always been synonymous with serving our guests whatever they want, whenever they want it—and that applies 24/7, 365 days a year, including Christmas Day,” says John Dillon, chief marketing officer for Denny’s. “This year, our guests have the added luxury of being able to enjoy their favorite Denny’s dish from the comfort of their home—or wherever they want—thanks to ‘Denny’s on Demand’. So whether it’s enjoying turkey and all the trimmings in their local Denny’s restaurant, or indulging in hot Buttermilk Pancakes while relaxing in their Christmas pajamas at home, we look forward to once again serving all of America anywhere on Christmas Day.”

Sizzler

Sizzler announced earlier this week that it planned to open “many” locations on Christmas Day. No word exactly on what that means, so it’s worth a call to your local restaurant. The menu will include traditional favorites, such as Steak & Lobster, as well as a new entrée, Bourbon Peppercorn Sirloin Cuts, freshly prepared in Sizzler’s kitchens. The Unlimited Craft Salad Bar spotlights Sweet Potato Pomegranate Salad for the holidays.

“One of the trends we have noticed in recent years is an increase in business on special occasions, including holidays,” says Kristina Van Bruggen, vice president of Marketing.

IHOP

Of course IHOP is open all day on Christmas. The 24/7 pancake restaurant never closes its doors, and that includes during the holiday season. The typical menu is being offered. Some locations, however, might have reduced hours. So it’s worth calling before you go. It’s even rumored that certain restaurants will make snowman pancakes.

Village Inn

Some Village Inns will be open all day. Others might be closed or opening later and shutting the doors early. Call to find out beforehand. In some cities, Village Inn has become a holiday staple for its wide menu and ability to dish out top-notch breakfast to start the day.

Shoney's

Not only will some Shoney be open on Christmas Day, but they’ll be offering a special holiday buffet from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. If that isn’t worth putting on real pants for, I don’t know what is.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Locations and hours will vary, but many Buffalo Wild Wings will open on Christmas Day. Perhaps chicken wings during the holidays can be a new family tradition.

Benihana

By location, some Benihana restaurants will have lunch and dinner available to guests. Again, why not mix it up this holiday season? Sushi could be a surprise gift to eat by the Yule log.

Buca di Beppo

Buca di Beppo opens its doors at 11 a.m. on Christmas Day. The family-style restaurant can serve everyone. Even if you show up with all 40 cousins invited to your house last minute. Many of the restaurants even have a special Christmas menu. Reservations at some locations, where the Christmas meals are legendary, are a must. It never hurts to call.

Ruth’s Chris

The upscale steakhouse opens noon on Christmas Day and closes at 9 p.m. So you might be getting an early dinner depending on your preference. But there’s no doubt you would get a steak (probably, almost surely) much better than your mother-in-law could make. A full menu is available.

McCormick & Schmick’s

All locations of the Landry’s Inc. seafood concept open on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is a special Christmas menu as well. Reservations are advisable.

Waffle House

Christmas Day is one of the chain’s busiest days every year. It’s open 24/7, offering the standard Waffle House fare. This is an annual tradition for many. So expect the crowds to file in depending on where you live.

Smith & Wollensky

The steakhouse opens its doors at noon and is serving up its Winter Menu, which features seasonal presentations of the chain’s USDA Prime dry-aged steaks and premium seafood. There’s a Chef’s Pick Holiday Dinner Starter: Seared Foie Gras with toasted brioche, roasted grape, and brandy verjus. The chain recommends getting the dinner started with the classic Shellfish Tower. Chefs are also suggesting one of the decadent “Steaks for Two” for the entrée, such as Chateaubriand or Porterhouse, sliced and served with red-wine demi-glace and roasted vegetables. And of course there’s famous Gigantic Chocolate Cake, Coconut Cake or the Butterscotch Crème Caramel, and lots of wine. This will be a holiday meal to remember.

Legal Sea Foods

Hours vary, but most locations of the seafood concept are open. Check your local restaurant. Reservations are recommended and private dining rooms must be reserved in advance, the restaurant’s website states.

Perkins

Many Perkins will be open but this, again, could vary by franchise owner. The restaurant is known for its breakfast. Grab the presents and head out for some biscuits and gravy.

Starbucks

It makes sense for Starbucks to open on Christmas. It has a Christmas Tree Frappuccino after all. Hours vary by store, with 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seeming to be the standard.

McDonald's

Select McDonald’s do in fact open on Christmas. Mostly it’s the corporate locations. Be sure to call first. Interesting side note: McDonald’s U.K. actually has a Christmas menu with festive food and rinks from the Beef and Cheese Feast to the Spiced Cookie Latte.
