Las Vegas Chef Brings Japanese Tastes to Hollywood

After immense success in Las Vegas, Executive Chef Akira Back is proud to announce the opening of Yellowtail Sunset on the famed Sunset strip in West Hollywood, California, in fall 2014. Chef Back and The Light Group are joining forces with LORE Group (Rock & Reilly's/Pearl's) to take over 8768 W. Sunset Blvd., the former home of Mirabelle restaurant, to bring the finest modern Japanese cuisine to West Hollywood.

"I've always been a big fan of California local ingredients, so opening a restaurant in Los Angeles has been a dream of mine for a while now," says Chef Back.

Using the highest quality seasonal fish and ingredients to create his delicious culinary masterpieces, Chef Back's extensive menu of modern Japanese creations features innovative and delicately prepared dishes that are poised to tantalize the taste buds of locals and tourists, alike. Chef Back's pioneering spirit brings a fresh take to inspired dishes like Tempura Alaskan King Crab and Big Eye Tuna Pizza. Other menu highlights include Lobster Carpaccio, Kobe Beef Tataki, and Yellowtail Serrano.

Born in Korea and raised in Colorado, Chef Akira Back is a favorite of the James Beard House in New York. Before opening Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge in 2008, the professional snowboarder-turned-chef studied under top celebrity chefs and industry leaders throughout the world, including Masaharu Morimoto and Brian Nagao. Chef Back also led the kitchen as executive chef of Nobu Matsuhisa's namesake restaurant in Aspen in 2003.
