Chef Brian Miyamoto of Restaurant Zoe took top honors at the Seattle Lamb Jam for both “Best of Show” and “Best Mediterranean” categories. Last year’s Seattle Lamb Jam winner Chef Brett Teegardin of Purple Café and Wine Bar continued to woo lamb fans, winning both “People’s Choice” and “Best Latin American” dish.

Sponsored by the American Lamb Board, the Seattle Lamb Jam featured globally inspired lamb concepts prepared by 15 of the city’s finest chefs. A panel of local media judges blind taste tested the 15 different lamb dishes, declaring the following winners in each category:

Best in Show and Best Mediterranean: Chef Brian Miyamoto of Restaurant Zoe: Lamb belly, delicata puree, beets, watercress, labneh, and fried couscous.

People’s Choice and Best Latin American: Chef Brett Teegardin of Purple Café and Wine Bar: Chili braised lamb shank tostones.

Best Middle Eastern: Chef Jennifer Izaguirre of Bell + Whete: Savory spiced lamb Khaliat Nahal with fenugreek seeds, saffron carrot goat yogurt.

Best Asian: Chef Garrett Doherty and Shane Robinson of Kraken Congee: Gochujang braised lamb shoulder congee, charred scallion aioli, pickles daikon, wild sesame crunch.

Chef Brian Miyamoto will take his lamb belly to the fall finale next year to compete for title of “Lamb Jam Master” alongside winners from upcoming Lamb Jams in Austin, Boston, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.
