Leading up to Veteran’s Day, Budweiser and Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery are kicking off their sixth annual military fundraising program, “Toast to Heroes,” from September 19 to November 11. The fundraiser is designed to raise money for the Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to family members and dependents of fallen or injured soldiers.

For an eight-week period, Tilted Kilt guests are given an opportunity to purchase $1, $5 or $10 paper dog tags to be personally customized and displayed on the pub walls. Additionally, guests are encouraged to snap a photo of themselves raising a glass to our veterans and texting the word TOAST to 444-999 for a chance to win a flight on a fighter jet.

Last year, Tilted Kilt independently raised $136,000. With Anheuser-Busch contributing an additional $10,000, the initiative generated more than $140,000 to be donated to the foundation, increasing the previous year’s donation by $25,000.

With more than 95 pubs open across the U.S. and Canada, and a strengthened partnership with Anheuser-Busch and the Folds of Honor, Tilted Kilt has set its donation goal even higher for 2016—aiming to contribute $175,000. Military families are hit hard with both an emotional and financial burden when there is a fallen or injured service member and the “Toast to Heroes” fundraiser helps ease the pain by truly making a difference in families nationwide.

“We’re thrilled to be launching our sixth annual campaign and give back to the service men and women and their families who have sacrificed so much for our country,” says Ron Lynch, president of Tilted Kilt. “Every year this fundraiser gives our pubs and guests a way to unite and support a cause we all deeply care about. Folds of Honor is a remarkable organization and we look forward to the results yielded by this year’s fundraiser.”

Of the one million-plus dependents adversely affected by deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, nearly nine out of 10 do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Folds of Honor seeks to meet this need by providing education scholarships to the military families of those who have been killed or disabled while in active duty. As stories of fallen and injured soldiers continue to make headlines, this opportunity allows for pubs and guests to give back to the men and women who continue to serve our country while dining at Tilted Kilt. Since its founding in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded more than 10,000 scholarships, including more than 2,500 in 2015 alone.
