For the 12th year in a row, Wine Spectator magazine acknowledged Ocean Prime’s dedication to quality and genuine hospitality by bestowing its coveted Award of Excellence on the brand, now with 16 locations coast-to-coast. The most recent location opened this past April in Chicago and will be eligible for the award next year.

“We’re pleased to shine a spotlight on the destinations around the world that show devotion to their wine program, while also creating a comprehensive global dining guide for our readers to enjoy,” says Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher, Wine Spectator. “Both novice wine lovers and seasoned sommeliers alike actively seek and frequent restaurants with exciting, well-curated wine lists. Bravo to all the 2019 recipients—we raise a glass to you.”

Director of Beverage Andrea Hoover works closely with each Ocean Prime location to curate wine lists that reflect these criteria and appeal to their guests. Selections range from rare wines available exclusively by-the-glass through the Coravin wine preservation system to more approachable pours. In September, the brand will release a private label wine in partnership with Trefethen Family Vineyards in Napa Valley.

“We are thrilled receive such a prestigious award again for our wine program,” says Hoover. “We look forward to continuing to refine our selections to best complement our impressive menu of pristine seafood and prime steaks.”

In order to receive the Award of Excellence, restaurants must typically offer at least 90 wine selections that represent a well-chosen assortment of high-quality producers. Wine Spectator thoroughly inspects all candidates to evaluate each restaurant’s commitment to wine – from cellar to table. The wine list must harmoniously match the menu in both price and style, offering sufficient choices to satisfy discerning wine lovers.
