As one of the most unparalleled times in history continues to unfold, Houston restaurateur Levi Goode, chef/owner of Goode Company, is looking to the future and taking steps to mitigate the effects of coronavirus for staff and guests by implementing mandatory COVID-19 testing for all employees. Working with Hamilton Health Box, a primary and urgent care microclinic operator, Goode Co. conducted COVID-19 testing for its current employees. The screenings are a testament to Goode’s commitment to his employees and represents a powerful collaboration between two Houston-based companies. The ultimate goal is to provide a safe work environment for staff and guests by providing a COVID-19 tested and monitored workforce.

Last month, Goode invested in COVID-19 testing for its employees, providing the no-cost testing to help employees gain peace of mind in knowing their health status.  Today, the company announced they will be conducting mandatory testing on all new employees who return to work.  Goode Company is committed to employee health and safety for the long term, which is why they will continue randomized testing moving forward.

“At Goode Co. we are fully committed to serving the absolute best on both sides of the plate. These screenings allow us to provide the highest possible care to our employees and in turn to our guests,” commented Levi Goode, president of Goode Co. Restaurants, “Our guests deserve transparency and the knowledge that we as a company are doing all that we can to keep them healthy and safe in our restaurants.”

The testing was administered by Hamilton Health Box’s certified physicians and medical professionals who were responsible for privately communicating test results to each employee.  Two tests were conducted for more complete results, including an antibody and PCR test (viral load.) Hamilton’s personnel will continue to monitor employee health for Goode Co.’s workforce.

“Testing is important to ensure the safety of the working population but also to create a sense of security for the customer,” says Dr. Toby Hamilton, founder of Hamilton Health Box.  “I think this is the new norm.  Goode Co. is on the front end of doing what is in their customer’s best interests while protecting their employees’ health and well-being.  It’s the right thing to do and I’m not surprised to see Goode Co. doing what’s right.”

Goode Co. has provided curbside pick-up and delivery at four restaurant locations through the dedication and commitment of its employees.   Goode is preparing to reopen its restaurants next week, following Governor Abbott’s announcement reopening restaurants in the state of Texas. The company has taken steps to ensure team members have what they need to protect themselves and others.  In addition to the gloves and masks already provided, thermometers will allow temperature screenings as employees arrive. A brief CDC questionnaire will screen for typical COVID symptoms before employees enter the workplace, maintaining a safe environment.  Employees with fever and/or symptoms will immediately return home.  Also, Goode Co. is implementing additional measures for guest safety (paper menus, single-use condiments, etc.)
