Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill is planning for new restaurants in several U.S. markets.

Three new restaurants are set to open in 2015. The first will open in Peabody, Massachusetts March 9, and the second will open in Chicago in late July. A third location along the East Coast with a date not yet finalized—bringing the brand’s portfolio of locations to 68 across the U.S.

Smokey Bones, formally of Darden Restaurants, was acquired by Sun Capital Partners, in 2007. In 2012, the brand hired Chris Artinian, a long-standing restaurant industry executive and former CEO of Morton’s The Steakhouse, to refresh the Smokey Bones brand as its president and CEO.

Smokey Bones has invested heavily in improving, refining, and refreshing food and drink options, led by Jason Gronlund, vice president of culinary, and Mike Herchuck, manager of beverage.

The new locations opening in 2015 will feature a new design for the casual dining restaurant, featuring modernized interior elements and equipped for multiple occasions.

“We are not departing from our original restaurant design because it’s still a part of who we are. We’re simply evolving the Smokey Bones look and story,” Artinian says.
