Every summer, the popular family dining destination Ruby’s Diner commemorates the birthday and life of its namesake, Ruby Cavanaugh, with a special burger event. This year, Ruby’s is combining this burger event with the introduction of the Ruby Dooby Foundation to carry on Ruby Cavanaugh’s dedication to the health and well being of children. On July 27, participating Ruby’s Diner locations will offer the popular signature Ruby Cheeseburger for only $2.99, and for each burger sold, $1 will be donated the new Ruby Dooby Foundation.

The Ruby Dooby Foundation continues Ruby’s well-known selfless, sincere care for others and honors the tradition of her genuine love for children.

“My mom Ruby Cavanaugh left this earth in December, and with the Ruby Dooby Foundation her legacy of caring for others, especially children, will continue long into the future. Her vivaciousness and zest for life inspires us every day to serve guests with welcoming smile. With the Ruby Dooby Foundation, we can take that inspiration a step further and honor her legacy with action,” says Doug Cavanaugh, founder and CEO of Ruby’s Diner.

The first Ruby’s Diner opened on Balboa Pier in 1982. Cavanaugh named the restaurant after his mother to honor and surprise her. Over the past decades, Ruby’s has become the destination for memorable meals that include juicy burgers, crispy fries, delicious, hand-made shakes, and a variety of tasty breakfast items. Each thoughtful Ruby’s location is customized to charmingly fit the community it serves.

Now there are 35 Ruby’s Diners throughout Southern California, and coast to coast with additional locations in three airports. Five new Ruby’s will open this year, including San Diego, San Clemente, Downey and Anthem, Arizona.
