The P.J.W. Restaurant Group opened their 14th P.J. Whelihan’s concept at 180 Mill Rd in Oaks, Pennsylvania, on December 19, making it the 19th of the group’s family of successful restaurant concepts including The Pour House (Westmont, New Jersey; North Wales, and Exton, Pennsylvania), Treno Pizza Bar (Westmont, New Jersey) and The ChopHouse (Gibbsboro, New Jersey).

The home of the new P.J. Whelihan’s is the Marketplace at Oaks, an upscale suburban community center that serves as a retail, dining and entertainment hub for the area. Formerly a Max & Erma’s, the 6,000 square foot space was completely gutted and remodeled.  Designed by Stokes Architecture, the new look is a familiar update of the casual neighborhood pub found across southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The exterior features a classic brick façade juxtaposed with modern glass panels and diagonal steel beams to usher in natural light throughout the interior. The steel beams and black mullions evoke a contemporary industrial feel, echoed in the sleek horizontal metal cladding with contrasting white letters announcing P.J. Whelihan’s.

The new outpost of P.J. Whelihan’s is geared to serve families, sports fans, happy hour patrons and those seeking night and weekend entertainment from local Pennsylvania-based bands and disc jockeys. Thirty extra-large televisions–including eight gigantic 80-inch screens–will keep guests in the middle of all the sports action. Patrons will find great views from the comfortable bar area that also features a communal table for large groups. Thirsty guests will enjoy a robust, rotating beer selection from 48 taps including P.J.W. Copper Lager, brewed exclusively for P.J. Whelihan’s by Victory Brewing Company. A brand new collaboration beer from Philadelphia’s Yards Brewing Company, P.J. the Elf’s IPA, will be available on draft for a limited time.

Fans of P.J. Whelihan’s famous wings won’t be disappointed— he menu stays true to traditional P.J. Whelihan’s fare with bold twists on classic bar food, seasonal salads and sandwiches, and a rotating wing of the month. Other highlights include limited time specials like Buffalo Chicken Taquitos (cheesy buffalo chicken wrapped in crispy flour tortillas served with ranch queso, $8.99); Monday Morning Quarterback Burger (topped with grilled pork roll, crispy potato sticks, Sriracha ketchup and melted cheddar cheese, $10.99); and Peppered Jack Chicken Sandwich (topped with honey chipotle onions, avocado, roasted garlic aioli, maple pepper glazed bacon and melted pepper jack cheese, $9.99).

The restaurant will be open through the holidays with ample space to host large groups of friends and family for celebrations or cozy get-togethers. A special promo on gift cards is running as well: free $10 bonus cards accompany every $50 spent on gift cards. Perfect for the hard-to-shop for as each card can be used across the P.J.W. Restaurant Group concepts.

“We are so glad to open our doors in Oaks. It may be the 19th time I’m doing this, but it never gets old. If anything, it’s even more rewarding to see our concept welcomed into another community,” says Bob Platzer, president and CEO, P.J.W. Restaurant Group. “We look forward to serving our new neighbors. Not just with food, but with community and economic support.”
