Matchbox Food Group to Open New Location in Virginia

Matchbox Food Group announced the latest expansion of Matchbox American Kitchen + Spirit. The new restaurant will open its doors to the public on November 16 at the One Loudoun development in Virginia. This will be the second Northern Virginia location for the brand, which the group expects to lead its national growth through 2020.

“As a longtime resident of Loudoun, Joining the One Loudoun community is a very proud moment for me and my team,” says Ty Neal, CEO. “Our new location continues the legacy of the original restaurant while developing an updated look and feel to the Matchbox concept, incorporating exciting changes from menu to design”

Diners can expect an innovative, “inside out design” with exposed ductwork, ceiling structures and walk-in coolers, reclaimed tables, using true materials like salvaged woods for stair treads, raw steel, and stone. Floating “box” booths will hang from above, giving patrons an exciting open view of happenings below. Branded elements, such as matchbooks suspended in acrylic, will be found throughout the restaurant alongside steel and glass light fixtures, interior steel walls, and other custom pieces. Other design elements include EarthStone pizza ovens, an open expo kitchen, an indoor/outdoor bar overlooking a multi-level outdoor patio, and custom fit concrete sinks by Sonoma Cast Stone.

The design will not be all that is new at Matchbox One Loudoun as Chef Stephen Lyons, vice president of culinary operations for Matchbox Food Group, has launched separate lunch and dinner menus, adding new items sure to please residents and visitors to the area’s wine country. New appetizer offerings include spicy tuna tartar tacos and hot artichoke + smashed garlic dip. Lunchtime guests can enjoy sandwiches such as the prime rib French dip, whipped ricotta fettuccini, and entrée salads featuring seared tuna, greens, and crunchy ramen. Dinner guests will have a number of new choices including beet + burrata salad, prime NY strip, and PBR fish + chips. Regulars will find familiarity in favorites such as the 3.6.9. mini burgers and signature artisanal pizzas.
