Johnny Rockets announced Monday a further expansion into college and university campuses through its Express prototype.

Johnny Rockets Express, a quick-service prototype ideal for universities, airports, malls, and other entertainment destinations, offers flexible floor plans with options ranging from a 150-square-foot, free-standing kiosk to a 1,100-square-foot restaurant.

“Johnny Rockets’ premium burgers, sandwiches and shakes have an all-ages appeal, however, we have seen an increased interest from millennials, particularly college and university students making dining decisions for the first time,” explains James Walker, president of operations and franchise development at Johnny Rockets. “To meet this growing consumer demand, we are targeting more campuses with our new Johnny Rockets Express prototype as a foodservice option for students and faculty. The menu options and flexible footprint ideally fit these venues.”

Appealing to students, faculty and university visitors that are dining on-the-go, Johnny Rockets currently has three campus restaurants located at Oklahoma State University, Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, and New Jersey-based Richard Stockton College. With a menu that reflects every daypart, a dedicated grab-and-go counter and localized décor, Johnny Rockets Express accommodates unique university requirements.

In addition to its success on university and college campuses, Johnny Rockets has nearly 45 restaurants across the country within a 5 mile radius of campus locations, which has allowed the brand to build relationships and reputation with millennials.

For colleges and universities exploring new restaurant and foodservice options, Johnny Rockets will attend the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) National Conference, taking place July 22-25.
