Fogo de Chão announced the opening of its first Louisiana restaurant in New Orleans. The new restaurant located at the renovated J.W. Marriott Hotel on 614 Canal Street, officially opened its doors to guests for dinner on December 30. The New Orleans Fogo de Chão marks the 30th restaurant location in the U.S., and the 41st restaurant overall for the company.
Fogo de Chão will be hosting a grand opening celebration for guests on January 8. The new restaurant is in close proximity to the French Quarter and Central Business District.
“We are pleased to expand our presence across the U.S. and introduce our Southern Brazilian hospitality to guests in Louisiana,” says Larry Johnson, chief executive officer of Fogo de Chão. “Having started in Brazil, celebration is an integral part of our culture, so we couldn’t think of a better city than New Orleans to launch our first location in the state. We are thrilled to share the rich traditions and cuisine of Fogo de Chão with the Crescent City.”
The newest Fogo de Chão restaurant features a wealth of savory, fire-roasted meats cooked to perfection over an open fire, including house specialties the Picanha (signature sirloin), Filet, Ribeye, Fraldinha, Cordeiro (lamb), and more. Additionally, Fogo offers a gourmet Market Table with an abundance of seasonal salads, fresh vegetables, hot side dishes, a charcuterie area, smoked salmo,n and Southern Brazilian side dishes.
The New Orleans culinary team is led by Head Gaucho Chef Carlos Girotto, who first learned the gaucho style of cooking on his family farm in the state where Fogo was founded, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Fogo de Chão New Orleans also offers Bar Fogo, a more casual way to experience the restaurant’s distinctive menu offerings through smaller, shareable plates.
