Black Bear Diner, a one-of-a-kind family dining franchise concept featuring a fun, bear-themed atmosphere, announced its newest addition to the Black Bear Diner family – industry veteran, Doug Branigan.

Branigan joins Black Bear Diner as the vice president of Franchise Development. In this new role, Branigan will oversee franchise sales to new and existing franchisees. He will also oversee all franchise operations.

The addition of Branigan is designed to help the franchise nearly double in size by 2018. Black Bear Diner currently has 60 locations and its leadership aims to grow to 100 restaurants by 2018. The franchise has already doubled in size from 2008 – 2013.

“Doug is a proven industry leader, and he clearly grasps our vision of steady, strategic growth,” says Bruce Dean, co-founder of Black Bear Diner.

“We are excited to have Doug join the Black Bear Diner family and look forward to taking our franchise development efforts to the next level,” says Bob Manley, co-founder of Black Bear Diner

Branigan brings a wealth of restaurant management experience with national and multi-national chains, including executive operational responsibility for up to 30 restaurants and more than $100 million in sales in the fine dining, casual, fast casual, and full-service family dining concepts. He has worked with successful brands such as Morton’s, Mimi’s Café, and Smashburger.

“I value the unique culture and concept that Bob and Bruce have created at Black Bear, and I’m excited to help lead their growth plans,” says Branigan. “In a segment that is struggling, Black Bear Diner has managed to well-position itself for strong growth.”
