After hundreds of submissions and nearly 10,000 online votes, burger fans will now be able to try the The Big Pig as the featured burger of the week at all 12 east coast Zinburger locations through October 23.
The winning burger of Zinburger’s Fifth Annual Burger Contest consists of an Andouille/Certified Angus Beef blended patty, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Bacon Onion Jam, Smoked Mozzarella, and Garlic mayo. The burger, submitted by Doug Blankrot, of Hoboken, New Jersey, will sell for $16.
Blankrot says he was waiting for just the right time to enter a burger contest with a unique creation.
“Honestly I have a notepad filled with over 100 different recipes that I come up with randomly throughout the day, majority of them being burgers. When the contest was announced, I picked my secret weapon, The Big Pig. And here we are,” says Blankrot.
Besides having his winning burger featured on the Zinburger menu for one week, Blankrok received a $100 gift card for his first place finish.
Since opening the East Coast’s first Zinburger in Clifton, New Jersey, more than five years ago to much fanfare, stellar reviews and packed crowds, Zinburger has developed an almost fanatical customer following who enjoy made-to-order gourmet burgers, hand-spun shakes and floats, decadent pies and 23 wine varieties.
