Double R Restaurant Group’s expansion efforts in Florida are underway, with the opening of two Another Broken Egg Café restaurants within eight days of each in the Sarasota area. On March 31, the restaurant opens in the popular tourist area of Siesta Key, with another operation debuting April 7 in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota.

The restaurant group, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, has 12 Another Broken Egg Cafés operating in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Louisiana, with three new locations under construction. Double R has plans for an additional seven locations to open in 2014. It also recently announced its South Florida development agreement to develop 40 locations over the next 10 years.

Double R is inviting Floridians interested in a sneak preview of the Lakewood Ranch spot and wishing to support three local causes to dine prior to the official grand opening date. There is no charge for the public to attend these separate fundraising events. Donations can be made via cash, check, or credit card and will be accepted for the featured nonprofits, each with its own special date.

Events are as follows:

Thursday, April 3 (9 a.m. – noon ) benefits Mothers Helping Mothers, an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that provides basic necessities such as clothing and baby items free of charge to families in need. All items are donated or purchased through grant funding or private contributions and are provided free of charge to clients.

Friday, April 4 (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) benefits The Joey Powers Leukemia Project, a not-for-profit public charity that assists families in dealing with the unexpected and at times overwhelming emotional and financial stresses of childhood leukemia.
