Trophy Brewing Co., led by founders Chris Powers, David Lockwood, and Brewer Les Stewart is opening its production brewery and taproom on Maywood Avenue near the State Farmers Market on the South side of Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Their dream of bringing specialty brews to more people is coming to fruition at 3 p.m. on December 21 when the production brewery and on-site taproom opens.

The taproom will have 12 beers on draft, counter pressure filled growlers, a cask engine, and occasional bottle releases. The production brewery features a 20-barrel, three-vessel brewing system custom built by Quality Tank Solutions out of Wisconsin. Additionally, the location will start with enough fermentation and conditioning tanks to handle up to 240 barrels (7,440 gallons) of beer at any one time before packaging or kegging. The location will start with distribution to a limited number of restaurants and bars initially, and then expand as it grows. The on-site taproom will open at 3 p.m. during the week and noon on weekends. Brewery tours will begin soon and info will be posted on the website and social media pages. There will be food trucks most nights of the week and customers can bring that food into the taproom to enjoy with a beer.

Trophy Brewing and Pizza, which has been operating for nearly three years on Morgan Street, will remain open and continue to produce quality beer and pizza. The two breweries, the new production facility, and the three-barrel system located on Morgan Street, will work in concert to develop a wider range of styles of Trophy beers.

The Trophy team partnered with Maurer Architecture and Raleigh Architecture and Construction for the design and construction of the brewery. “We are thrilled with the work our design and construction team did on the building. We hope our guests enjoy the brewery view as much as we do,” says David “Woody” Lockwood, the co-owner.
