P.J.W. Restaurant Group celebrates the 10th birthday of its signature private-labeled brew, P.J.W. Copper Lager, with “Pour X More,” a month-long celebration kicking off October 1. Brewed exclusively for the restaurant group by Victory Brewing Company, P.J.W. Copper Lager is a Vienna-Style lager available at all 13 P.J. Whelihan’s in Pennsylvania and New Kersey. P.J.W. Copper Lager made its debut 10 years ago on October 12, 2006 with a simul-tapping of kegs by CEO, Bob Platzer, COO Jim Fris, and Victory Brewing Company Co-Founders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski at the then existing eight P.J. Whelihan’s locations. When introduced, P.J.W. Copper Lager was the 30th most popular beer sold of the 35 beer brands available. Today, the signature brew is second in popularity only to Miller Lite.

Throughout the month of October, P.J. Whelihan’s fans will be invited to take part in the company-wide party celebrating all things P.J.W. Copper Lager. The “Pour X More” theme will be incorporated into new anniversary-branded 22-ounce glasses, signage, server aprons, and P.J.W. Copper Lager trivia on the television screens. Every day 10 lucky fans will be randomly selected to receive $10 cards to be used at any of the 13 P.J. Whelihan’s locations. People can enter in up to ten different ways each day by visiting www.pourXmore.com. Known for their incredible wings, P.J. Whelihan’s Wing of the Month will be naked and spicy “Copper Lager XXX Wings” ($5.99)—unbreaded and made with jalapeño, Sriracha, and P.J.W. Copper Lager.

The signature brew is the same price ($4) it was a decade ago and is the first of four Victory and P.J.W. Restaurant Group collaborations. Hoppy White Ale, a full-bodied wheat beer with heavy citrus aromas, debuted at The Pour House restaurants in April 2016. Victory also brewed two limited releases for the restaurant group: Thirtieth Anniversary Ale was brewed in 2013 to celebrate the restaurant group’s milestone and Whelihan’s Wheat, a summer seasonal was found on taps in 2008.

“Ten years ago we saw the trajectory craft beer was on and thought serving our own beer was a great way to harness that momentum. Thankfully, our customers agreed and we’re thrilled to pour P.J.W. Copper Lager for another 10 years. And then some,” says Bob Platzer, CEO of P.J.W. Restaurant Group.
