The Umstead Hotel and Spa will put Napa Valley’s iconic Cakebread Cellars in the spotlight on April 19 for a special wine dinner event. Hand-picked wines by Sommelier Hai Tran will pair harmoniously with artisanal dishes prepared by Executive Chef Steven Greene.

The spring-inspired meal will take guests through five finely crafted courses. These include white asparagus, quail, beef, and Vacherin cheese dishes with ingredients such as mushrooms, rhubarb, fennel, berries, and white chocolate. A flight of mignardises will also be served. The wines selected for the evening include some of Cakebread Cellars’ famed varietals, including its Sauvignon Blanc from 2014, Chardonnay from 2013, “Two Creeks Vineyard” Pinot Noir from 2013, and its Cabernet Sauvignon from 2009 and 2012. The complete menu is available online.

Cakebread Cellars is an award-winning winery that has evolved over the last 40 years into one of Napa Valley’s most authentic and beloved producers. Built over a history of family tradition, the winery is known for its high-quality Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as for its contributions to the development of the Napa Valley wine region and its winemakers.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the hotel’s newly renovated Salon. Tickets are $145 plus tax and gratuity.
