Houston brothers Joe, Ricky, and John Rosa and close family friend, Andrew Thomas, have been named Franchisee of the Year by Twin Peaks Restaurants and were recognized on September 13–14 at the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Public Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.

The group created The Avalanche Food Group in 2009 to purchase a Twin Peaks franchise after watching a news report on “Nightline” detailing new restaurant concepts that were thriving in a down economy.

“We were looking for the right concept to invest in,” says Ricky Rosa. “After watching that special and meeting with Twin Peaks executive team, it was clear Twin Peaks was the right fit for us.”

The Rosa brothers were no strangers to the restaurant business. Their parents owned an Italian restaurant, which the brothers helped run. Ricky had also owned and operated his own restaurants for more than 30 years prior to becoming a Twin Peaks franchisee.

Today, the group has one location near Houston and another scheduled to open this fall. The group plans to open an additional five restaurants over the next six years.

“The Avalanche Food Group is very deserving of this award,” says Twin Peaks CEO Randy DeWitt. “They operate the most successful franchise location in our system and are excellent representatives of everything we stand for.”

The 12thannual IFA Public Affairs Conference took place Sept. 13–14 at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C. The Twin Peaks franchisees were honored on Tuesday, September 13, at the Leadership & Franchisee of the Year Awards Dinner.
