California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) published Taste of the Seasons, the fourth volume in the restaurant's popular series of cookbooks, presenting sought-after recipes for many classic CPK seasonal menu items.
Inspired by the fresh ingredients offered up by Mother Nature during specific times of the year, "Taste of the Seasons" is a collection of flavorful and wholesome salads, meals, desserts, and drinks that make the most of the fresh foods that are specifically available during each season. Created by California Pizza Kitchen's top chefs Brian Sullivan and Paul Pszybylski, each straightforward and easy-to-follow recipe includes prep and cook times as well as serving sizes and beautiful photographic images of each creation.
"We've written this book to showcase cooking with in-season ingredients. Meals are not only more flavorful when using fresh seasonal foods, but they're also less expensive to make because the basic elements are more plentiful when in season,” says Brian Sullivan, CPK's senior vice president of culinary development and co-author. “This cookbook shows how to use what's available during different times of the year."
In addition to the classic CPK BBQ Chicken Pizza, Sunny-Side-Up Potato and Bacon Pizza, California Club Pizza and Roasted Garlic Chicken Pizza, recipes found in "Taste of the Seasons" include Korean Sweet Chili Wings, Chicken Tequila Pasta, Miso Mango Salad, Fire-Grilled Rib Eye with Roasted Potato Salad and Oven-Dried Tomatoes, Strawberry Shortcake with Candied Basil, and Winter White Sangria, among many others.
The cookbook also contains instructions for such important basic recipes as Neapolitan Pizza Sauce, Tarragon Vinaigrette, Crispy Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, and Caramelized Onions.
"All fruits and veggies have their natural harvesting season,” says Paul Pszybylski, CPK's senior director of culinary innovation and co-author. “Cooking with freshly sourced foods not only makes meals taste better, but they're more nutritious, too. I think this book offers a lot of new and fun ideas for family meals."
All proceeds from sales of "Taste of the Seasons" will be donated to children's charities.
